CHILD & ADOLESCENT THERAPY

At Fatima Bux Psychology, we provide specialist online psychological therapy for children and adolescents across the UK. We focus on helping young people build confidence, develop emotional resilience, and strengthen their overall sense of wellbeing.

We deliver accessible, evidence-based support entirely online, making it easier for children, teenagers, and families to access help wherever they are based in the UK.

Childhood and adolescence are key stages of emotional and psychological development. When difficulties arise during these years, timely therapeutic support can make a meaningful difference to a young person’s mental health, relationships, and future outcomes.

Cozy psychology office with minimalist design and warm lighting.

SUPPORTING YOUR CHILD'S EMOTIONS AND WELL-BEING DEVELOPMENT

WHAT CAN WE SUPPORT WITH

  • Anxiety, persistent worry, panic symptoms, and emotional overwhelm
  • Low mood, depression, irritability, or emotional withdrawal
  • Difficulties managing emotions, stress, or strong feelings
  • School-related pressures, including exam stress, perfectionism, and academic demands
  • Social challenges such as friendship difficulties, bullying, and low self-esteem
  • Obsessive thoughts or repetitive behaviours
  • Trauma, bereavement, and other distressing or significant life events
  • ADHD and autism-related needs, including emotional regulation, behaviour, and social communication support

We also work closely with parents and caregivers, offering                                       guidance around:

  • Behavioural or emotional difficulties at home
  • Supporting children with anxiety or emotional needs
  • Understanding and adapting to ADHD or autism diagnoses within the family

WHEN MIGHT THERAPY BE HELPFUL

You might consider therapy if your child or teenager is:

  • Frequently anxious, worried, or feeling overwhelmed
  • Experiencing low mood, irritability, or withdrawing from others
  • Struggling with friendships, school life, or family relationships
  • Showing changes in sleep, appetite, or everyday behaviour
  • Finding it hard to manage emotions or cope with stress

Children and young people don’t always have the language to explain what they are experiencing. Therapy provides a safe and structured space where thoughts and feelings can be explored, understood, and supported in a way that feels age-appropriate and manageable.

ARE PARENTS INVOLVED?

Parental involvement can play a valuable role in a child or young person’s therapy, and we adapt this depending on their age, developmental stage, and individual needs.

With teenagers, sessions are generally held on a more private basis to encourage openness and honest exploration. Even so, we maintain thoughtful and appropriate communication with parents where needed, so progress can be supported beyond the therapy room.

With younger children, we often take a more collaborative approach that includes parents more directly. This helps ensure that strategies can be reinforced at home and that the child benefits from a consistent and supportive environment across settings.

Across all ages, we aim to strike the right balance between fostering independence for the young person and working in partnership with parents, ensuring therapy remains supportive, safe, and effective for the whole family.
